- Description: I. 'NEWS FROM ENGLAND. Hundreds of civilians line the roadside, hoping to catch a glimpse of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth during their two day tour of Lancashire. The King and Queen chat to wounded soldiers of the British 78th Infantry Regiment on convalescence in Preston. The King and Queen visit an iron foundry in Wigan. Queen Elizabeth shakes hands with female workers at an aircraft factory in Accrington, later visiting the factory nursery where children of the women workers play with building blocks. II. 'BRITISH FLEET IN THE PACIFIC.' HMS Howe arrives in Sydney Harbour on a visit. Various views of the ship follow. The commentary describes the Howe as being "the most formidable capital ship afloat." Eager Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Marine (RM) libertymen stand on the quayside waiting for the order to disperse for shore leave. A contingent of Royal Marines march along a quayside in Sydney Harbour. Film footage shows the interior of the recreation centre "Golden Hind" specially designed for the use of sailors on liberty in Sydney. Footage includes views of the recreation centre's information and reception desk, cloakroom, lounge, dance hall and reading room. Back on HMS Howe a Royal Marine guard of honour present arms (Lee-Enfield No.IV .303-inch rifles) during the visit of an unidentified Australian Rear-Admiral in charge of the Sydney Naval Establishment. III. 'WESTERN FRONT.' British Churchill tanks drive under a bridge. United States (US) Ninth Army M36 tank destroyers drive past a prone British Second Army Bren-gunner during the Allied armoured drive on Westphalia. German prisoners are searched by British tank crewmen as Churchill Mk II and VI tanks drive past. British Churchill Mk VI tanks drive past US Ninth Army infantry at an unidentified German hamlet. A US ordnance team sets up a captured German large-calibre field rocket launching system (30cm schweres Wurfgerät 41 ?). Extended footage shows loading and firing sequences. Buildings burn in Münster as British M4 Sherman and Churchill tanks fight their way through the streets. US infantry (328th Infantry Division ?) carrying M1 .30-inch Garand self-loading rifles march through the streets of Münster. German prisoners of war march past damaged houses with their hands on their heads. Captured German film shows the Luftwaffe air offensive on targets in Poland (Warsaw- Junkers Ju 87B, Heinkel He 111B and Henschel Hs 126). Stock shots briefly show the effects of the Luftwaffe bombing offensive on London, Warsaw and Coventry. Churchill close-support tanks (Mk V or VII) drive past a road sign that reads "Münster 6 km." A small group of British and US infantry move cautiously through the streets of Münster armed with Colt M1911A1 .45-inch automatic pistols, a Bren .303-inch machine gun, a .30-in M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle and Garand rifles.
