Other titles:NORTHERN IRELAND ARMY INFORMATION SERVICES COLLECTION [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: On safe ranges near Ballykinlar, during a very wet day, surrendered Loyalist paramilitary ammunition is disposed of. Detonators are buried deep under sand and set off. Small arms ammunition is placed into heavy duty, open topped iron boxes with wood at the bottom. Lengthy sequence shows the process after the fire beneath (and inside) the boxes has been ignited. As the fire gets more and more powerful, the heated ammunition begins to explode, each bullet giving of a popping sound; the noise becomes louder and denser as the rapidity of the detonations increases.
