Description: (Tape 1) Christmas carol service of 1st Battalion the Queen's Lancashire Regiment (QLR) in St Patrick's Church, Lisnakelly Barracks, Omagh, on 18 December 1998. Afterwards, soldiers form up on the parade ground and march away.
Christmas dinner for members of 1QLR: long tables, party poppers, cans of Carlsberg. In the traditional way, the officers serve the men their meal.
Interview with the Lord Mayor of Preston, Rose Kinsella, who is visiting at the invitation of the Regiment (Preston is a garrison town; QLR is based there and has the freedom of the town). Also interviewed about the visit are Mayoress Elaine Lloyd (the Lord Mayor's deputy), Colonel David James and Warrant Officer Steve Jolley.
(Tape 2) The Lord Mayor makes presentations of trophies and other items to members of the Regiment; she gives a brief speech and also reads out messages from soldiers' families in Britain.
