Summary: British and German armour and guns are seen in a British Army scrapyard, also film of captured German coastal defences.
Description: I. A Caterpillar tractor towing a burnt-out Sherman DD tank and a Diamond T wrecker lorry from a 21st Army Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers unit carrying a section of radar mast (?) in its jib arrive at a scrapyard set up by 1st Corps REME and Royal Army Service Corps units at La Délivrande. A REME fitter rescues a length of chain from a wrecked M5 halftrack. Armour plate cut away from a German armoured fighting vehicle is picked up and taken away in a Fordson 15cwt truck belonging to the East Riding Yeomanry's Light Aid Detachment. Among the items in the yard are the superstructure from a Sturmgeschütz III and, nearby, bogie wheels and a 75mm gun from a Sherman tank, a wrecked jeep and a Sherman Crab's flail jib (?), a French 75mm cannon, built in 1918 and used by the Germans for coastal defence, and a damaged British 5.5-inch gun.
II. At Petit Enfer captured by No 46 (Royal Marine) Commando on D+1, the cameraman examines the German defences. From a 5cm gun position (with a clear arc of fire over the beach) runs a narrow communications trench linking it with its underground ammunition shelter and with sea-side villas converted into strongpoints and subsequently wrecked on June 7 1944.
