Summary: Members of 1st Battalion the Royal Green Jackets (1RGJ) undergo refresher in conventional warfare training at Otterburn Training Area and Redesdale Camp after two years in Northern Ireland.
Description: (Tape 1) Soldiers in full kit and cam cream deploy in the open. Interviews with soldiers: Rifleman Richardson, Rifleman Adams, Rifleman Jamie Thompson, Rifleman Gavin Clare, Rifleman Paul Taylor and Rifleman Rob Uchendu. Target practice on moorland range. Further interviews: Second Lieutenant Alex Morris, Rifleman John Stevens, Rifleman Andrews and Corporal York. Infantrymen advance over open ground monitored by observers. Soldiers rest at mess tent and eat al fresco meal.
(Tape 2) Bivouac sequence: soldiers by their tents cook food in the Kielder Forest. They have just taken part in a Bramall trophy exercise: a 24 hour endurance trial involving a number of arduous tasks. Interviews with participants: Rifleman Gavin Leadbetter, Rifleman Gavin Levers, Rifleman Matt Huard, Rifleman Craig Haydon, Rifleman Lee Smith, Rifleman James davidson and Lance Corporal Stuart Parker. Exercise footage: scenes of troop movements using both Puma and Lynx helicopters.
(Tape 3) Soldiers unpack equipment from lorry in the Kielder Forest. Casualty treatment and evacuation simulations in forest and on open road.
