Description: Film covers the history of the Lee on Solent site from its inception in 1917 as a Fleet Air Arm base, through its change to a communications base in 1939 and the introduction of the Air Engineering training School from 1959.
Commodore G. Daniels, the Director of the school in 1991, gives a presentation entitled "An introduction to the Fleet Air Arm engineering school", summarising the provision of academic, technical and character training provided by the school. The training is split into career course and specialist training and the film shows footage of some of the many training courses, including a passing out parade. The school's hierarchical structure is also shown on an organisational tree.
Further sections show the use of civilians in the running of the school, footage from the recent annual open day, called "Air Day" and an aerial tour of the entire site, including its residential quarters.
