Type 21 frigate «HMS Alacrity» (F.174) is recalled to Portsmouth following an outbreak of food poisoning. Commander Alan Bennett interviewed by reporter Sue Saville. Dated 12 September 1990. Military guards at «HMS Nelson» are to be replaced by civilians. Naval spokesperson Elizabeth Hendrick interviewed by reporter Sue Saville. Dated 1 November 1990. Swiftsure class, nuclear powered submarine «HMS Superb» (S.109) involved in an accident whilst on a training exercise. Coolant flow to the reactor was interrupted, leading to the reactor closing down. Reporter Sue Saville. Dated 5 December 1990. An explosion in the accommodation block of «HMS Nelson» resulted in several trainees being injured by the falling masonry. Dated 12 December 1990. A sailor at «HMS Nelson» in Portsmouth was shot by a guard whilst scaling a perimeter fence, having trying to get back into the base. Commander David Stainsby interviewed. Dated 1 October 1991. 3 sailors from Type 82 Destroyer «HMS Bristol» (D.23) were injured during riot training. 3 naval ratings arrested following a city centre brawl in the Jolly Sailor pub, Portsmouth. Ice patrol vessel «HMS Endurance» (A.171) is being assessed for rust damage to its hull. Interview with Captain Bob Turner, the ships commanding officer by reporter Sue Saville. A Royal Naval Sea King helicopter crashes into a Saxon church in a village called Little Boddington. Interview with Commander Colin Watkins by reporter Sue Saville. A naval rating was shot by a perimeter guard whilst trying to climb the fence at «HMS Nelson», Portsmouth. Commander mike Booth interviewed by reporter Sue Saville. Note that the content of each story is presumably fictitious, although nothing on the film specifically indicates this to be the case, other than the recurrence of one individual who is repeatedly used to provide an unhappy civilians perspective on the story.
