Description: I. Scenes in the Operations Room at Kabul; relaxed atmosphere. The walls of the room are covered with Afghan graffiti and the appearance of bullet holes. General views of work being carried out.
II. On edge of runway, a member of 5131 RAF Bomb Disposal Unit uses a knife to unearth buried ordnance. Shrubland around tarmac is searched for further unexploded items: a large ordnance case is discovered and placed at the edge of the track where it is photographed. Bomb disposal men drive back in Land Rover; truck convoy passes. Searches continue and further ordnance is discovered, partly buried. (Some shots are posed for the camera.) Ordnance cases are stacked on waste ground and a detonator cable is attached and fed out. Explosion is shown, followed by a long shot of a second detonation. Local Afghan man assists the bomb disposal team.
III. Continuation of search in scrubland around the airfield: markers (in "dayglo" orange and pink) are set up. Views of air traffic control tower in background.
IV. Further ordnance search, this time on hardstanding; more markers are set up.
