Summary: Helicopter operations in the Atlas Mountains by RAF 33 Squadron during Exercise Jebel Sahara.
Description: Lengthy scene shot through the window of a Puma helicopter showing the sky, and also the rotors spinning. Pilot's comms messages can be heard. Puma eventually takes off; shaky shots of interior and of rocky mountainous landscape below (various dwellings visible. Up in the mountains, smoke grenades are thrown by crew member; the direction of the smoke is checked.
II. Ground-to-air shot of Puma landing and troops disembarking on mountain top. Second helicopter flies overhead and lands in the background; piece to camera by Mike Drewett (Mobile News Team) about the Puma. Helicopter takes off. Troops rest under the shade of some bushes.
III. Several sequences of Pumas landing and troops disembarking; kit is stacked in a pile on the ground.
IV. AIr-to-ground shots of mountains and of lake with a small dam. Interior shots of Puma. Landing at base near the Kenzi Louka Hotel, after which Puma is refuelled from bowser. Ground crewman signs paperwork. Further views of Pumas taking off and hovering.
