Summary: Members of 51 Squadron RAF Regiment in and around the Iraqi town of Safwan.
Description: I. Camp outside Safwan airfield: camouflaged tents and vehicles, surrounded by a sandy ridge. Soldiers sleep outside in sleeping bags, on the ground and on camp beds. In the camp area is the Land Rover partially wrecked in a mine explosion the day before. Guard stands at the entrance to the camp by the man-made sandy ridge. Nearby landing ground: Puma helicopters are guarded by members of 51 Squadron in a camouflaged WMIK Land Rover.
II. Sergeant Mears erects a wireless antenna mast, securing it to the ground with wires.
III. Underneath camouflage netting, Squadron Leader Sanderson of the Mobile News Team finishes erecting a tent and waterproofs it with a covering sheet (it is raining).
IV. General views of the camp: the day is windy, and the camouflage netting billows. Brief shot of soldiers on latrines.
V. Squadron Leader Simon Chappell, medic with 51 Squadron, holds a clinic at a local elders house. British soldiers stand guard outside. Inside the house, a large number of people (men, women and children) are in attendance. Squadron Leader Chappell is assisted by an interpreter and a nurse. He hands out sweets to those waiting and sees each patient individually in the main room; one of the patients has an injured leg, possibly from shrapnel. Outside, he meets with various local people. Children are handed chocolate.
VII. Members of 51 Squadron on patrol in their WMIK Land Rover.
VIII. Interview with Squadron Leader Chappell, who is please that the local people he has been looking at are all in "rude health", apart from some cases of diarrhoea and minor cases of shrapnel injury.
