Summary: Members of of 2 MT (Mechanised Transport) Squadron deliver humanitarian supplies from Kuwait to Iraq.
Description: I. Interior of vehicle driving along main roads in Kuwait at night. Police checkpoint is passed. Passenger in front seat navigates using map. Radio plays Western soft rock music.
II. Convoy of supplies - articulated vehicles of 2 MT Squadron parked by the side of road in desert; soldiers stand guard..
III. View from inside vehicle as convoy passes gated checkpoint and drives into the desert. Sign pointing to "UNIKOM/KPP #1 - UMM QASR" is passed; cranes at the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr can be seen on the horizon.
IV. Roadside scenes; hazy early morning sun. Members of 2 MT Squadron pause to eat compo rations. Meal over, the crew get on board their lorries and set off again.
V. Further views from moving vehicle: Military Police Land Rover drives in front. Vehicles approach the checkpoint at the Iraqi border and are stopped; informal greetings to (British) border guard. Vehicles proceed; local Iraqi civilians watch as they drive past. Roadside view of convoy. Cab view as vehicles pass through arch and into the deserted port of Umm Qasr. The curtains on the side of the Royal Air Force lorries are removed, the contents are revealed as food aid packages for the Iraqi people: "A Gift from the People of the United Kingdom: Food Products". Members of 51 Squadron form a human chain to unload the parcels and reload them into an ISO container. Interior of large warehouse: the RAF articulated lorries (now minus half of its cargo) are driven inside and parked; further boxes (personal and hygiene products) are removed and stacked up.
VI. Interview with Squadron Leader Axel Jinadu, OC of 2 MT Squadron about the involvement of the Squadron in delivering the humanitarian aid into Iraq.
VII. Views from cab of 2 MT Squadron vehicle as it drives back towards Iraq; shots of road ahead and of driver. Convoy drives across the border control and back into Kuwait.
