Description: (19 January 1944) Charing Cross Station, central London, Lord Leathers (Minister of War Transport) inspects an LMS locomotive (No. 8681) built by the Southern Railway. A committee of civilian men are gathered by the locomotive (including the South Railway General Manager, Sir Eustace Missenden) as Lord Leathers dons an engine drivers hat and boards the driver's cab. The group stands beside the train for the camera. A close-up shows an “LMS BUILT 1944 SR” plaque on the side of the engine. The sequence ends with the locomotive steaming past the platform. SH298
(7 February 1944) The construction of wooden hulled Admiralty Harbour Launch boats, at Eastleigh Works in Hampshire. The final stages of the outer hull construction are featured, as wood is shown being layered across a central jig and then being riveted into place. After the Jigs have been removed, work can take place on the inside of the hull, an engine is then lowered below deck. (1 min 24 sec) SH299

(9 February 1944) Crated torpedo tail units are manoeuvred out of the workshop on trolleys and manually loaded into freight railway wagons outside. An Admiralty Harbour Launch boat is then towed out of the workshop doors on a flat railway wagon. (3 min 16 sec) SH301
