IV. Title: "Winter Weather 1939-1940": Millers Dale Junction (Buxton line), Peak District, under heavy snow. Pair of locomotives coupled together with snowplough clearing deep snow from tracks. Men shovelling snow from track. Railwayman chalking up sign "No trains today". Troops at work clearing deep snow in cutting, loading snow into rail wagons. Shots of snow-covered countryside from moving train. (Probably all Peak District.)
V. Soldiers guarding concrete blockhouse. Civilians entering. Interior shots of men operating telephone exchange switchboards.
VI. Derailment and gas exercise. Stretch of track in rural area blown up (LS). Old locomotive runs off track into resulting crater. Salvage crew dressed in full anti-gas clothing at work removing locomotive with the aid of large steam crane. The locomotive is partly dismantled and lifted up (apparently with some difficulty).
