Summary: Opening Titles: "Women by themselves cannot win this war. But quite certainly it cannot be won without them."
Description: Continuity is provided by a girl initially listening scornfully to a radio programme voicing 'traditional' views on women, and then (as she finishes getting dressed) remembering various friends now in different branches of the Canadian forces - towards the end, she is revealed to be in the WRNS herself. Her friends are in the WACs (a driver, and a wireless technician - some general training film, including gas drill), (Reel 2) WAAFs (a photographer, and teaching aircraft recognition) or WRNS (one works in a plot-room, two do technical drawing). A male commentator takes over at the end with a resumé and recruiting appeal: over film of recreation, training and various jobs (from cooking and gardening to driving and office work) he talks of variety and enjoyability of work; over film of troops embarking, speaks of value in releasing men for other service.
