Summary: The war-work of Canadian colleges, both in the simple sense of undergraduate military training and in research.
Description: Film alternates shots of laboratory and battle scenes, and concentrates on the three areas of night vision, penicillin, and the problems of high altitude. Emphasis then switches to anticipation of post-war trends - soldiers become students and wartime research has beneficial "spin off", eg developments in engineering/mining, and the electron microscope. The film constantly returns to the theme of cooperation (between individual and nation, university and war effort, interdisciplinary).
