Description: The film opens and closes with shots of the villagers compiling, signing and despatching the letter; the "illustrative" part shows the advance by the army (and partisan activities); the extensive damage in the liberated village as inhabitants emerge from shelter to thank the troops; the burial of the dead, and reburial of those killed earlier by the Germans; the return of refugees and allocation of accommodation; the reconstruction work, with help from the Army and engineers and volunteers from Moscow; the resumption of life and agriculture, with seed and livestock given by the Government and other collective farms; the first harvest; in spite of the exemption offered liberated territory, the village makes a contribution of grain to the army, promising more in the future.
