Summary: "Scenes from the wartime life of the womenfolk of our Soviet Ally."
Description: Opens with film of a proud mother with her son who has been made "Hero of the Soviet Union", then moves on to women who are making a more direct contribution: nurses in training (including special parachute squad); a meeting of women volunteering for industrial work; women at work digging fortifications, in agriculture (training in tractor driving) and in factories (draughtswomen and machine operators, older children assist in running a crĂȘche for younger children); accorded full equality of pay and status, women are even working in heavy industry, and as drivers on the Moscow Underground, or of cranes in a docks; there are also women's branches in the armed services, and firewomen. Film closes with the Secretary of the Central Council of Soviet Trade Unions, a woman, on a visit to London making a smiling but rather incomprehensible speech of solidarity to the camera.
