Summary: The story of the scheme, thought up by Mayor John Scanlon with the people of Oswego, New York State, to expand the idea of United Nations Day into a UN Week and have the town play host to representatives from all the Allied nations.
Description: Film opens with establishing material on Oswego: its economy, its history, its contribution to the war. Decorations, and other preparations made for the visit; parade and formal welcome for the visitors. "Getting acquainted": formal trips to factories, Lake Ontario harbour (bauxite/newsprint trade with Canada) and less formal occasions: church, bicycle ride, swimming, a carnival - and the chance to get to know people simply by living, eating and talking with them. An informal dinner at the Mayor's, and a formal send off at the station concludes the film, while commentary commends the exercise as a practical furthering of the ideals of the UN.
