Summary: "This is a true picture of an actual family. It concerns Stanley Case, his wife and two children." The film follows the Case family through a 'typical' day, from getting up to putting the children to bed, as a living example of the American way of life.
Description: The Cases are "plain everyday folks", married 10 years. He is a tool inspector at General Motors Cadillac plant, works a 40 hour week for $1600 pa: they live "comfortably" within their means, and although their savings were lost in the Depression, are now (with help from the firm) having their own house built. Most of the film is narrated by Case, but there is also a commentary, which points out that America could become the "last outpost of freedom" in the world - "America is proud of its Stanley Cases, who are proving that Democracy is real, that it works... Ours is a heritage we must carry on... The American way of living, whatever may be its shortcomings, is still the happiest existence on earth."
