Summary: An impression of China's part in the war, based on film covering the 1942 visit to China by a British Parliamentary mission.
Description: After opening with a general tribute to China's stand against Japan and to the leadership of Generalissimo and Madame Chiang Kai-shek ("than whom no two people ever gave more to the cause of Freedom"), establishing shots of the provisional capital Chungking (including a mass wedding) lead into film of the arrival of the mission (Lords Ailwyn and Teviot, Messrs. Wedderburn and Lawson): their welcome by the city and the Chiangs; visits to new industries, created inland after Japanese occupation of developed coastal strip (simple textiles, a new dam, heavy industry), to army training, to a Republic Anniversary parade/display in Szechwan province (with General Chang Chun), to the trenches of the Yellow River front with Captain Chiang (son of the Generalissimo) and to an army exercise. "To suffer, to endure and at last to conquer, that most surely is China's destiny."
