Summary: An account of the new railway between Banda Shapur and Banda Shah which is revolutionising the transport of raw materials and military equipment across Persia, the safest route to Russia from the West.
Description: Extensions to the primary north/south route to the line are being added, and are ultimately expected to extend as far as Tabriz, the last stage of the journey to the USSR. Tribute is paid to the British railway engineers who made its construction possible, part of the railway passing over precarious desert terrain and part of it being the highest railway in the world. Thus Persia has become a "highway in the fight of the United Nations against the Axis".
