Summary: Compilation of aircraft trials, probably late 1960s.
Description: I. Three take-offs and landings of Jindivik unmanned target aircraft from trolley at Llanbedr, late 1960s. During the first launch, a large flock of birds are scattered from the runway. This is followed by a sequence of negative film, spliced in back to front (unused soundtrack area is on screen) showing fuelling and maintenance of Jindivik (No A92-102, which became operational in 1960). (This sequence is followed by a section of leader film.)
II. Six landings of Gloster Meteor aircraft at Llanbedr; same camera position, but with varying lighting conditions. After the third landing, the film has no image for approximately 40 seconds, and "T O FLIND 11A & 3A" also appears on the film. There is also a 20 second loss of image before the final landing shot.
III. Three flights of a Jindivik with 80-inch wing extensions, giving it the resemblance of a U2 spy plane. These tests take place at WRE (Weapons Research Establishment) Woomera, Australia. The tests take place in extreme heat, and shots of the aircraft during take-offs and landings see it being visually distorted by the heat haze.
