The elderly couple and their dog make their way along the Caen-Bieville/Douvres-la-Délivrande road past a column of CMP 3-ton lorries. One of the lorries (all from a 1st Corps RASC composite company) and a despatch rider motor along the bombed-out road of Caen. An old woman returns to Caen and disappears past a Sherman OP tank (33rd Field Regiment RA) in search of her home.
