Film Number:DED 257
Other titles:PORTON DOWN TRIALS NON-NITRATE COLLECTION [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Filmed record of first aid training at Porton Down.
Description: I. In a sparsely furnished room (presumably at Porton) a "casualty" lies face down on the floor. A four-person first aid team enters, accompanied by an examiner/instructor who makes notes and occasionally speaks with the team. The patient is thoroughly checked for injuries and is given a blanket. Bandages and dressings are applied to his head and legs; his arm is also dressed and placed in a sling. A bucket of water is brought in, and a stomach "wound" is bathed. Finally, a stretcher is prepared. (11 minutes)
II. A stricken man in a chair, his arms folded across his chest, is moved into a prone position by a single first aider, who loosens the patients tie and inspects him, giving attention to his chest and eyes. Sling is attached to his arm. He looks at the camera. (4 minutes)
III. A casualty (the same man as the previous sequence) is attended to by two first aiders. A sling is attached, and he is covered by a blanket. His pulse is also taken, and he is given a drink. (7 minutes)
