Summary: Members of CND and affiliated organisations gather at one of the gates to Porton Down to protest about its activities. It is a wet day. There are various takes, separated by stretches of black or blank film; judging by the positions of the demonstrators and of the vehicles behind the gate, the scenes are not in strict chronological order.
Description: Demonstrators gather at the gate, near the sign for the Defence NBC School. Many of them carry placards: "Chemical War Means Genocide in Vietnam", "The Black Death - Made at Porton", "Ban the Bug". Camera records the faces of those present: many of the demonstrators jeer or give two-fingered "salutes". Most of them are in their teens or early twenties, but there are several older people; there is also a woman with a pushchair. Vehicles drive past along Firs Road; there is a BP garage nearby. The demonstration continues; a helicopter flies overhead. A policeman removes a placard from the perimeter fence. Protestors begin to disperse, although (in the following take) they are assembled at the gate again. Large banner asks "Do You Feel Germ Warfare Can Save Christianity?". Demonstrators walk up and down the road with placards an balloons as traffic passes normally. Gathering at the nearby bridge over the railway; soldiers are present. One protester tries to climb over the fence.
