Summary: Chemical decontamination exercise involving aircrew at Battery Hill Laboratories near Porton Down.
Description: (Tape 1) Two men, stripped to the waist, have thin metal tubes (about 3 inches long) attached to their body using microporous adhesive tape - the caps are removed from the tube ends and shirts are put on. Exterior shots of the two men in flying suits performing tasks. Back in the laboratory, the tubes are removed and replaced. The two men are then seen in a tent, in full flying gear and helmets (labelled WET DRILL), and have droplets placed on their suits by technicians. The men pat themselves down with powdered pads.
(Tape 2) The two men continue powdering each other; one takes a trip in a Land Rover. Later, they take their flying suits off and are checked with a CAM (chemical agent monitor). They then go through a decontamination routine.
(Tape 3) The men are placed in polythene tents with their equipment. Dark scenes in a laboratory as technicians use ultraviolet detectors.
(Tape 4) Similar procedures to Tape 2 ("Wet Drill" in tent) with two different volunteer airmen.
(Tape 5) The two are decontaminated, then are placed in the polythene tents. Further darkened ultraviolet scenes.
