Summary: The discharge of smoke grenades, and the spread and subsequent dispersal of the smokescreens produced, is shown from both German Leopard and British Chieftain tanks, for the purpose of comparison
Description: First sequence. Static shots of the Leopard tank from various angles, including close-ups: smoke projector and smoke grenades - "nebel wurfkorper DM2 HC". On the range, views from the rear of both Leopard and Chieftain tanks record single smoke grenades being discharged and the resultant smoke plumes. Several separate firings are shown. Scientists and technicians inspect the scene.
Second sequence. Bad tramlines at the beginning. Tanks are seen head-on whilst discharging multiple smoke grenades in different directions - thick white smokescreens are effectively produced. Leopard tank is shown, folowed by Chieftain, which is seen discharging conventional grenades followed by airburst projectiles which form a more diffuse (but still effective) smokescreen. This latter screen takes a long time to disperse.
Third sequence. Better quality image, richer colour, but with a hair caught in the gate (this is printed in). Side view of each tank in the distance as multiple smoke grenades are discharged, showing the subsequent dispersal of the cloud. The effects of wind direction on the smoke are clearly visible here. The Chieftain againt demonstrates the airburst projectiles as well as conventional smoke grenades. After the dispersal of each smokescreen, scientists emerge from their wooden shelter and carry out an inspection.
