Summary: Presentation of colours to the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst by HM Queen on the 30th May 1974.
Description: Arrival of the Queen by car, received by the commandant and is greeted with a Royal Salute. The Queen inspects a unique parade of young officers alongside officer cadets from all parts of the Commonwealth. An escort of 48 officers collects the old colours as Regimental Sergeant Major draws the sword and pays compliments. The old colours are lowered in front of Her Majesty and are to be laid out in the old memorial chapel. While the Academy are temporarily without colours drums are piled for the short service of consecration. The commandant requests the Chaplain General to give Gods blessing on the new colours. Her Majesty comes forward to present the Queen's colour and the regimental colour presenting her speech to Commonwealth countries. The piled drums are removed as parade falls back into line and the new colours are received by the Academy. Parade gives a final salute, march off the colours and Sandhurst disperses.
