Summary: Exercise "Dryfoot" at Yuma, Arizona. Two tanks have been prepared at the Military Vehicles Engineering Establishment and shipped to Yuma via Liverpool and Long Beach California, together with two Land Rovers and 50 tonnes of Chieftain spares. Chieftain undergoes climatic tests in desert on mobility complexes. There are also laboratories located at the site for calibration, photography and oil analysis. Instrumentation is fitted to both tanks in order to measure various temperatures, crew comfort levels and the sampling of dust concentrations. Also, automative and durability tests are conducted.
