Summary: Promotional film of reconnaissance vehicles from 'the arctic to the equator'.
Description: Testing the armoured 3 wheel Ferret, the Saladin 6 wheel general purpose armoured car and its sister vehicle, the Saracen 6 wheel armoured personnel carrier. Construction is shown at the Alvis factory in Hull of these two vehicles. The Saladin, built for internal security requirements or a global war, is shown tackling rough ground, wading through water without any preparation, and crossing five foot trenches. The Saracen, based on the FV600 series has high performance, this is demonstrated with high speed cross country tests with 6 independently driven wheels. Its high turn over angle of 45 degress allows it to take awkward water courses. An armoured ambulance, commander and special cargo vehicle, its primary role is seen as a personnel carrier used for the rapod movement of fighting men. Finally, an armoured missle carrier, the Ferret MKII is seen on the production line of the Daimler factory.
