Summary: Lieutenant General Sir Brian Horrocks talking about Field Marshal Rommel.
Description: In this programme Sir Brian Horrocks talks to Peter Lilley about Rommel, having been an adversary of his in France 1940, North Africa 1942/3 and France 1944. Horrocks has much respect for Rommel who, like Montgomery, he sees as a truly professional soldier devoted to his task. He says Rommel was tactically a better general than Montgomery but strategically Montgomery was a better commander. Horrocks gives a somewhat inaccurate picture of Rommel's involvement with the 20th July Bomb Plot and the events after it leading up to Rommel's suicide.
