Summary: Lieutenant General Sir Brian Horrocks reminiscing about General Wavell.
Description: In this programme Sir Brian Horrocks talks to Peter Lilley about General Wavell, whom he describes as "the best military mind 1924-45". Horrocks, who served directly under Wavell for many years, tells anecdotes about Wavell's humility and jokes with his ADC. One of Wavell's greatest virtues was his lively imagination, says Horrocks. Horrocks says Wavell was not to blame for the disasters in the Middle East nor the Japanese successes which occurred under his command. He says it was Churchill who took a dislike to Wavell and replaced him with Auchinleck. This is a popular series and Horrocks says nothing that is not now well known.
