Summary: Second of three BBC schools programmes for secondary pupils using stock footage with conventional historical commentary dealing with the period 1933-40.
Description: The second programme deals with the 1933-40 rule of Hitler. The commentary tells how Hitler first broke all the agreements of the Versailles Treaty, then turned Germany into an armed camp and the programme follows his plan for world domination through Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Scandinavia, France and Belgium. The British desire for peace at all costs is given as the explanation of why Hitler was appeased. The film consists entirely of stock footage from newsreels and feature films.
