Summary: Home movie of HMS Capetown on the China Station showing the ship's crew relaxing at Wei-Hai-Wei and celebrating the coronation, May and June 1937.
Description: The film shows the crew at leisure, the rugby team, officers playing various deck games, the officers and their wives in formal dress and the distribution of a drink to all the members of the crew. A gun salute is fired. There is a long sequence of several crazy sports going on ashore amidst much joviality. There is then an idyllic sequence of a mixed party having tea on the lawns and then playing mixed doubles tennis. There are scenes on the ship in the harbour and in dry dock being painted. A Fairey III F sea-plane takes off, there is ship's target practice, there are shots of the several cargo ships in the harbour. There are scenes in convoy at sea where a Walrus takes off.
