Summary: Home movie of HMS Capetown on the China Station, featuring the Fleet Regatta at Wei-Hai-Wei, about May 1937.
Description: The film begins with street scenes in Wei-Hai-Wei showing traditionally dressed Chinese peasant types. There are many scenes of the officers and crew of HMS Capetown relaxing, including a mixed party having an open air 'cook-out', and a man and a woman sailing. Meanwhile preparations are seen going ahead for the Fleet Regatta, the boats are scraped down, cleaned and painted. Some of the remainder of the Fleet is seen in the harbour, including the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle. There are scenes of the Regatta with several crews rowing by as officers and their wives watch from the deck of the Capetown. The last shots show the cups that have been won.
