Summary: Privately made instructional film for civil defence personnel which demonstrates the appropriate dressings for a variety of injuries likely to be encountered at a bomb incident.
Description: A realistic mock-up of each wound is shown in colour close up, to familiarise the audience with its appearance and major characteristics. The treatments illustrate the versatility of the mine and shell dressings and alternatives to the use of splints for the immobilisation of fractures. The injuries include a severe laceration of the palm, a severe leg burn, compound fracture of the right radius, closed fracture of the left tibia, multiple splinter wounds in the right shoulder, severe laceration of the foot, abdominal perforation, etc. The film concludes with a selection of typical war injuries - bullet wounds, traumatic amputations, etc. - for which no appropriate treatment is suggested.
