Description: (1) Suburban street. Smoke blows across the road. MS as ARP man wearing service respirator recovers a gas "victim". MCU as warden uses a piece of lint to obtain a sample of the chemical agent from excess liquid on the road surface. Casualty removed to an ambulance. Second casualty taken away on a stretcher. ARP men connect up a hose. Man uses Pocket Vapour Detector (Mk 1). ARP records data on a notepad. Area marked off. Roadway hosed down and swept with stiff brooms. Lime mixture worked into the road surface. (2) Area of comparatively open ground. Snow covered. ARP uses detector. Men test the snow with rods to the end of which are attached pieces of indicator paper. Litmus test applied to brick wall. ARP men wear full decontamination gear. Area marked off with rope. Danger notices put up. Contaminated snow shovelled into bins. Lime is put down. Telegraph pole swabbed down. Wandering civilians are removed from the danger area.
