Summary: A film record of an inter-depot competition for Beckenham's stretcher parties.
Description: Five teams competed, but the film is edited to suggest only one. The stretcher party arrives at some bomb-damaged houses, and after reporting to the Incident Officer, begins a systematic search of the area, discovering one man already 'dead', a second casualty trapped by fallen debris, and three others suffering respectively from a punctured lower lung, haemorrhage from a lacerated radial artery, and a lacerated arm. The minor laceration is dressed by a bearer, while the other immediately accessible cases are dealt with in order of priority. After treatment, the pulmonary case is removed upon a stretcher while the haemorrhage victim is assisted by a human crutch. The 'trapped' casualty has now been freed and receives treatment for eye injury and shock before being removed to the ambulance. Finally, the corpse is removed, and the stretcher party leader reports the area cleared of casualties. Surplus equipment is retrieved and the team leaves. A final notice states that the winning team completed the exercise in eleven minutes, and is the first recipient of a special plaque, the competition trophy. End CU of plaque.
