Summary: The constitution of mobile police teams capable of operating independently in the aftermath of a nuclear attack.
Description: The film shows in diagrams the command structure of a typical mobile column, and then shows in more detail the vehicles and equipment used in a training column consisting of personnel carriers, spares and equipment vans, kitchen vans, communications vehicles and motorcycle dispatch riders. The various members of the column describe their equipment and duties in voice-over. An exercise is shown in which the column moves in convoy to a new location and sets up their headquarters and communications. The film suggests that in a real emergency the columns would have to rely on requisitioned vehicles and equipment and a degree of improvisation. There is no mention of what policing duties they would actually carry out in such an emergency.
