Summary: Trials of a rocket operated self-propelled bridge mounted on a Churchill.
Description: An early trial shows an attempt to flip a five-and-a-half ton ramp over a concrete block using 20 2-inch rockets. The rockets fail to push the ramp far enough. The first ramp is assembled and as a strength test a Churchill tank is driven over. Eight 3-inch rockets are used in the first trial, but prove to be too powerful as the ramp is damaged. After repairs, success is obtained with six 3-inch rockets, flipping the ramp over a 12 foot wall. A Churchill tank is driven over. Further trials are shown, including an attempt at a 23 foot sea wall - a first attempt fails as the ramp slips. The bridge is then used successfully to cross a high stack of oil drums. Finally a river crossing is carried out (filmed in colour) - the ramp is fired, crossed by a tank, and then recovered by winching the ramp back over to its starting position.
