Description: A mother visits her son at a Red Cross convalescent home in a manor house in the countryside; one of 200 in Britain. She expresses her gratitude to them for helping her to visit her invalid son in hospital and now at the home. From his bath chair in the garden he describes the care provided by the staff to help the men recover. Servicemen are shown engaged in a variety of activities ranging from PT, basketball and tennis to croquet. Basket weaving is encouraged as a means to overcome post-operative depression. The family atmosphere created by the nurses is stressed.
