Summary: Record of the Short Change Trial (abbreviated version of Small Change) when volunteer subjects from the British Army (A Company, 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment) engaged in a field exercise after imbibing the hallucinogen LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) at Porton. Soldiers, identified by numbers, appear doped.
Description: The film begins with a title, stating that the men taking part in this trial were all volunteers from 'A' Company 1st Staffords. The men in combat uniform are seen drinking from glasses (possibly containing a solution of LSD). They are divided into two groups, the HQ section and No.1 section, each identified by a number attached to their back. The men are then seen walking across countryside, taking cover and moving through bushes. The numbers are clearly visible on the backs of the men. The men run across open ground - one is seen briefly, lying across some bushes - and the camera moves with them. One man looks extremely disorientated as he moves forward and he is assisted by a colleague. CU of same.
