Description: Privy Councillor and former Conservative Minister Colonel Walter Elliot steps off train after arrival at Leningrad station on (21 January) for three-day stay and poses with the other nine members for the cameras of their Russian hosts. "A trip through the city" passes through near-deserted streets to the Winter Palace Square, revealing war-damaged buildings and wrecked tram as well as Soviet-style modern architecture. British visitors then see effects of German destruction in snow-covered grounds of Palace at Petrodvorets (Peterhof) on 23 January.
