Summary: Scenes on 70th Brigade's front as it prepares to assault Rauray.
Description: From his position on the Fontenay-le-Pesnel - Rauray road, the cameraman surveys the 10th Battalion Durham Light Infantry's sector of 70th Brigade's front centring on a crossroads north of Rauray; an infantry section (1st Tyneside Scottish Regiment ?) moves up towards the front line. Sherman tanks belonging to the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards, accompanied by a despatch rider, move up to support the 11th DLI and the Tyneside Scottish's assault on Rauray and overtake another motorcycle despatch rider heading back towards Fontenay and infantrymen resting by the roadside. Troops from the 10th DLI's rifle companies are seen in position around the Cheux-Vendes/Fontenay-Rauray cross-roads; two riflemen, one armed with a Lee-Enfield No 4 sniper's rifle, open fire on German snipers. The corpse of a Hitlerjugend panzer grenadier is found in the Battalion's sector. Waffen SS teenagers are escorted to the DLI's HQ where they are searched and put under close guard. At a regimental aid post established by 187th Field Ambulance Royal Army Medical Corps in a wrecked farm at Fontenay, wounded 'Hitlerjugend' prisoners await despatch to POW cages; casualties of the 11th DLI's attack on Rauray are brought in for emergency treatment and are put aboard Austin K2 ambulances.
