Description: Scenes of the bridge under construction (replacing an earlier wooden bridge) are shown, before coverage of the ceremony itself, which took place of 5 February 1946. Lieutenant General Gwylim Ivor Thomas (General Officer Commanding I Corps) inspects guard of honour before officially opening the bridge by cutting a ribbon in the traditional manner. Soldiers walk across the two spans of the bridge.
