Summary: Film of trials or demonstrations of the "Great Eastern" Ramp developed by MD 1, fitted to a Churchill AVRE tank.
Description: The rear section of the ramp is positioned by firing a rocket, the forward section is positioned to bridge a 12 foot wall similarly. A Churchill tank negotiates the ramp, which is then returned to carrying position, by means of cables attached to Churchill tanks. A river said to be 73 ft wide and 61 ft deep is crossed in a similar way, the tank in this case is positioned in the middle of the river. The "recovery" of the ramp by means of cable and jib is clearly shown. Various British army officers and men are in attendance.
