Summary: Aircrews are briefed and set out on a raid.
Description: In a briefing room, crews listen as the route for the raid is pointed out. A large map is on the wall and an aerial photograph is in view. A Lancaster Mk III of 467 Squadron, RAAF moves down the runway and takes off. Another taxies and follows suit. Another Lancaster of 463 Squadron follows in the next shot. Lancaster Mk I, 'L' of 9 Squadron, is seen at rest as a tractor towing a 4000lb 'cookie' bomb passes in front. 'L' begins to roll and taxies. It lifts into the air after 'L' of 463 Squadron takes off. Two aircrew wearing Sidcot one piece flying suits and equipped with parachutes climb into the rear door of a Lancaster. In other shots crews are silhouetted in the dusk as they enter or climb out of their aircraft, seen from mid and low angles. Framed by the wing and wheel assembly the a crew move towards their aircraft after chatting to an airman with the trolley accumulator. The camera pans, following the crew and rests on the groundcrew ready with the trolleyacc. After a second take it is plugged in. Dusk again and a line of Lancasters stand on the perry track. That in the foreground starts up. A member of the ground crew holds up his thumb as the Number 2 engine starts followed by Numbers 3 and 4 engines. As this is happening the front turret gunner rotates his turret to check the system, elevating and depressing the guns at the same time. Daytime and a wing tank is filled with petrol.
