Other titles:AMATEUR FILM BY HUBERT CRAMER [Alternative Title]
Summary: Amateur film shot by Mr Hubert Cramer (1892-1965), a founder of the Metal Box Company, while visiting his cousins in Münster, Germany records a large gathering of brownshirts in 1932 and a military parade on Hitler's Birthday (20 April 1936), as well as a British military parade at Aldershot (probably in 1935).
Description: Large gathering of SA (Sturmabteilung) brownshirts assembles in an oval-shaped stadium (probably the Preussenstadion in Münster), watched by spectators in the surrounding stands, topped by banners (not swastikas). (Date on film can is 1932.)
Ceremonial parade (King's Review?) by all branches of the British Army takes place in summer at Aldershot. Infantry, motorised units and armoured vehicles including Vickers tanks pass by in front of the spectators' stand. (Date on film can is 1935/1936.)
Large modern house under construction in Geldern (or Münster) by Hubert Cramer's German cousin, an engineer, has Nazi swastika flags in two windows. Ceremonial parade by units of the German Army takes place in a large square or parade ground, flanked by imposing buildings from which Nazi swastika flags are draped. Location (recalled by cameraman's son) is Münster, on the occasion of Hitler's birthday (20 April 1936). Views of the Prinzipalmarkt in the centre of Münster show swastika flags flying from many (not all) windows. Street scenes, with a few pedestrians visible.
