Description: An inspection round of the magazines is carried out "Daily, by the Officer of the Quarters, attended by Petty Officer". The two officers get they key for the appropriate magazine from the Gunnery Key Board (a lockable cupboard where all the keys are held), The keys are signed out and the officers descend through a hatch to the magazines: sign warns "Dangerous Area". A fire hose is prepared as a precaution. Checking of magazine doors and various compartments. The two officers put on plimsolls and climb into "A" Magazine through a bulkhead door. Depth charges are checked and rubbish is cleared away. A close inspection of the charges, including the checking of the codes on the end of the charge canisters. Points of interest are noted. Stock numbers are checked against the "A" Magazine Contents Board, with details of the lot number etc. Temperature and humidity readings are taken and noted in a log book. The two officers then leave "A" Magazine, and sign the keys back in to the Gunnery Key Board. Details of the temperatures in "A" and "X" Magazines are recorded in a ledger.
