Quinn, James1919-08-232008-02-11Quinn served with the Irish Guards during the Second World War, serving in in north Africa, Italy and north-west Europe. He is best known, however, for his tenure as director of the British Film Institute (BFI) from 1955 to 1964. He later collaborated with the Imperial War Museum to produce films and became a trustee of the museum (1968-1978). His wife predeceased him and he was survived by their two children.
